Parish Life Update, Feb/March 2026
Recently we have fed the congregation through our Mid-Winter Potluck and the decadent indulgence of Chocolate Sunday.
The Ministry is now looking forward to two highly important events. Our joyous Easter service will provide excellent music by the Cancel Choir, the Canterbury Bells and special musicians scheduled by our Music Director, Leon Burke. The sanctuary will be decorated with the flowers of Easter. Please watch for the form to sponsor Easter flowers in celebration or memory. This is an important way in which you can support the Parish Life Ministry in creating a memorable Easter service. Following worship, we will indulge in coffee cakes provided by members of the church. Plan on helping with this. Select your favorite coffee cake recipe, bake and bring to Memorial Hall before worship, plated and ready to serve. A member of the ministry will be there to accept it.
The Ministry is also developing plans for our annual Benevolence fund raising event. This year the gala evening will be May 2 with a Derby Day theme, recognizing the annual Running for the Roses in Kentucky which will finish just as we are gathering. We ask all to donate to the Benevolence Fund at this time whether or not you can attend. We also ask that you support the event by donating items for the Giving Tree (contact Nancy Rudolph or Laura Cooper), offer Sign-Up opportunities or offer items for the oral auction by contacting Rosemary Hensley. Cathy Buerk will be asking for help with the set up and clean up for this event as well as church bakers to provide layer cakes for the dessert following the evening meal catered by Orlando Gardens. More details will be available nearer the event. But the help of all is requested to make this successful. Most of all, put May 2 on your calendar. Part of the ticket price is a contribution, but the greatest contribution is your presence at this joyous, meaningful social event.
As we will be approaching the end of the program year, please be sure to read the Annual Report. In it, the Parish Life Ministry will recognize many of the people that help to fulfill its missions.
