A GREENER FIRST CHURCH
Our Office Administrator Adam Levin was concerned about the amount of paper we pitch every week. He, Judy & Bob Borutta, Chris von Weise and I recently sat down to tackle this issue. Sharon Love is also part of this ad hoc group. The two procedures we have come up with initially are (1) bringing in fresh cartons of half-and-half to use at coffee hour, instead of the single-use creamer, and (2) using the bin tucked in the desk slot on the west side of the office to recycle paper (see photo). Paper will be periodically taken to the Kirkwood Recycling Center.
Other ideas include having the folks that lease space from us, particularly in the kitchen, start recycling cans and bottles. Before we meet again, we will post the date and time in the Covenant News. Contact Adam with any ideas here.
AA IMPROVEMENTS
The AA group that have been using a portion of the west side of the Dickens Room have expanded their “territory”. The group has see significant growth and contractors that are a part of the group knocked down the temporary wall effectively doubling their footprint. They are adding floor tiles, polishing the floor and painting the walls to match the existing area. They volunteered to double the modest rent they pay. This is one important mission of our church that doesn’t get much notice. The east side of the Dickens Room (separated by a permanent wall) is used by “The Persuaded Pooch”, a relatively new dog training renter.
ONA RAINBOW BENCH
A quick reminder to continue bringing in bottle caps. We are inching closer to the 400 lbs needed!
