Year of Renewal 2017
by Linda Kopetti
The time has come for me, as a member of the Year of Renewal Team, to draw your attention to our efforts.
As I write this I have just finished Jodi Picoult’s novel Small Great Things. This book’s been on the best seller list for sometime, but that is not the whole story. This book is HARD to read, but it personifies why our “year of renewal” is so important. It speaks of racism and human relationships, of living life to the best of your ability but falling short. Without a “watershed event” we may very well feel that we have conquered our biases and mastered the challenges. This book will challenge you to take one more look.
I urge you to read Small Great Things and speak to others who have done the same. Keep speaking and look for the events and learning opportunities we plan to send your way.
Great things may be right around the corner.
