About the Band
The Oasis Jazz Band has been performing for more than thirty years. It began as a musical offered by Oasis, a national organization providing classes in healthy aging. A 17-piece big band, the group rehearses weekly and offers concerts at local venues, senior centers, and religious communities. Chuck Schuder, the director says, “we offer music from the great American songbook, jazz legends Count Basie and Duke Ellington, as well as contemporary composers like John Lennon Paul McCartney.” Bassist Ralph Moore and pianist Ted Lau serve as assistant conductors.
