January 15, 2017
Order of Worship and Bulletin (link)
Sunday, January 15, 2017, creates the opening bracket of our Year of Renewal 2017. The date is significant, because it is the Sunday in the weekend of the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday. Our liturgy will include recognition of this new beginning.
First Church has been a voice for social justice and peace in Webster Groves since its founding. Our activism for the human and civil rights of all citizens has been a critical component not only in our understanding of ourselves but in our approach to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Recognizing that we must be diligent in reminding ourselves about how to be a people of God welcoming all, Pastor Dave Denoon will take up the theme of this year’s MLK Celebration “More than Just an Essay” contest – “The I in We.“
Scripture readings – Isaiah 49:1-7 and John 1:35-42
