We highly value spiritual formation for all ages. All children are welcome in our sanctuary at any time, and every worship service includes a 5-minute message geared toward kids. We also offer “Kids’ Church” for toddlers through high school students every Sunday. Nursery care is also available.
Our model focuses on connecting with children through play and building their sense of community. Therefore our approach to learning is subversive and fluid, rather than overt and structured.
It is important to us to give our kids (and grown-ups) a biblical foundation and a powerful sense of God’s love for them. So we will talk Bible stories, yes, but we will never deny the perspectives of science or social justice! For a century and a half, First Church has been a major local voice for a progressive understanding of the Bible as a human book reflecting the Holy Spirit. Expect a fresh reading and a socially responsible interpretation when you study with us!
