Gateway ONA Bench 5/21
Gateway ONA is a consortium of 25 metro area UCC congregations. Their mission is to serve as a resource for churches who seek to embrace the diversity of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We have been a part of ONA since 2008. Over the past several years, the organization has promoted rainbow colored benches to demonstrate a continued outreach and support of the LBGTQ community and to welcome future LBGTQ members and supporters.
These are “plastic wood” no-maintenance benches actually made from bottle caps. We have two “asks” to help support this project. The first is to contribute financially, we need to raise $410 for a six ft bench.
You can either put a check in the Narthex offering plate made out to the church, and marked ONA BENCH in the memo line, or contribute on line, again making it clear that it’s to go to the bench fund. Secondly, bring your bottle caps in. There will be a bin in the coat room just off the Narthex marked ONA BENCH BOTTLE CAPS. We need 400 lbs of caps! Click on this link to learn more. We plan to put a bench in the area outside the Building 3 West entrance. This will serve as a quiet place where staff can take a break or students can wait before their music classes.
